OpenSearch Dashboard Black Screen – Plugin, Configuration, or Resource Issue?

Hi Everyone,

Iam encountering an intermittent black screen on my OpenSearch dashboard. While data ingestion and queries continue to function normally in the backend, the UI occasionally goes completely dark.

Iam trying to determine if this is due to a misconfiguration, a plugin conflict, or perhaps a resource limitation.

Has anyone experienced this issue, and are there any troubleshooting steps or fixes you would recommend? Thanks in advance .

Sorry to hear you’re having some trouble. The only time I’ve ever seen a black screen issue on OpenSearch Dashboards is when there was an access / role / tenant security configuration issue. Since you’re describing the issue as intermittent, I can only guess some kind of resource exhaustion or perhaps a bad browser cache.

Does the problem go away when you reload the page and skip the cache? For most chromium based browsers this is something like a ctrl-shift-f5.

Does the problem go away with a different browser? That might help determine whether it’s an OpenSearch issue or a browser issue.
