Heap optimization in ES 8.3, also in OpenSearch?

Hi all, I am curious whether OpenSearch also has the heap optimization introduced in ES 8.3 that allows us to have significantly more shards per node than before. This is a massive improvement. See: Size your shards | Elasticsearch Guide [8.6] | Elastic

Does anyone know whether OpenSearch has this as well, and if so, which version?

AFAIK there are no equivalent optimizations in OpenSearch (as of today).
