Versions (relevant - OpenSearch/Dashboard/Server OS/Browser):
Describe the issue : “follower_index_pattern” has been introduced in OpenSearch 3.8.0 as per release notes opensearch-build/release-notes/opensearch-release-notes-3.8.0.md at main · opensearch-project/opensearch-build · GitHub
However, OpenSearch documentation regarding CCR Auto Follow functionality Auto-follow for cross-cluster replication | OpenSearch Documentation does not mention about this.
Any reasons for this ?

@farman I’ve checked the documentation and opensearchproject repo in GitHub. The follower_index_pattern is mentioned in internal plugin documentation but is missing in the official OpenSearch Documentation.

## Start replication via Autofollow pattern
AutoFollow API helps to automatically start replication on indices matching a pattern.
Optionally, provide `follower_index_pattern` with the `{{leader_index}}` placeholder to create follower indices under a different name. The placeholder is replaced with each matching leader index name at replication time. When omitted, the follower index uses the same name as the leader index.

The `follower_index_pattern parameter` (https://github.com/opensearch-project/cross-cluster-replication/pull/1705) is missing from the OpenSearch Cross-cluster replication documentation.
The issue was initially reported on the OpenSearch forum:
