Repository usage by searchable snapshots

Versions
OpenSearch and Dashboards versions 2.12.0 and 2.15.0
Describe the issue:
Hi Community,
We are using OpenSearch quite a while and now have a cluster of 4 data nodes with 2x1.7TB SSD drives each.
As the data volume grows, we’ve started using Searchable snapshots placed at the SMB share (TrueNAS with 10x8 TB drives).

Our concern is snapshot repository usage by the search node - cluster is extensively using the NAS drives by many parallel reads.

Question
I have read throughout the manuals and was unable to found any option to limit request number while using searchable snapshots.

So my questions are:

  • If I search through app1-*, of which 100 indices are at my main cluster and 50 indices are at the snapshot repository, how will it use the NAS?
  • Is there a way to configure cluster use limited number of parallel requests to NAS?
  • Does anybody has an idea if there is another way not to overload NAS during searchable snapshot search?
