Local document RAG for the meta repository: a meta repository managed through a memory MCP built on OpenSearch
- Talk summary: A strategy for turning the spec documents from the dozens of repositories we use across the company into memory, managed and served through OpenSearch. By having it remember complex work history this way, we can dramatically cut token costs and inference time to boost productivity.
In this meetup, we went beyond just OpenSearch and covered an entire information retrieval system, with OpenSearch serving as one component in building a Semantic Layer for AI. It was a meaningful session where someone shared their experience building an integrated enterprise knowledge base end to end, spanning graphs, an LLM Wiki, and OpenSearch used as a tool for an in-memory MCP that ties it all together.
As the information retrieval field evolves, it was a valuable chance to hear about building one large information retrieval system where OpenSearch connects with a variety of other solutions rather than standing alone. We also had about 40 minutes of passionate discussion between the attendees and the presenter during the Q&A.
Jin, our new organizer, prepared and presented this meetup, and promised to keep sharing the series on the journey of adopting it as a platform, so stay tuned!
