OpenSearch Kubernetes Operator 3.0 Alpha Now Available

We are really excited to announce the alpha release of OpenSearch Kubernetes Operator 3.0- a major milestone focused on stability, resilience, and production readiness.

This release includes over 100 meaningful changes that address critical issues users have experienced with previous versions. Key improvements include quorum-safe rolling restarts that prevent split-brain scenarios, multi-namespace support for better multi-tenant deployments, TLS certificate hot reloading, and full support for OpenSearch 3.0 features including the new gRPC API.

The operator is also transitioning to the opensearch.org/v1 API group, with automatic migration support to ensure a smooth transition for existing users.

This work was led by the team at BigData Boutique. Special thanks to maintainer @pgodithi and all community contributors who tested and provided feedback.

We encourage users to try this alpha release in non-production environments first. Assuming no major issues are found, a beta release will follow in the coming weeks, with GA targeted shortly after.
