Is Opensearch a CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) project? We see other projects like fluentd and elasticsearch are part of CNCF.

No, it’s not. At the time of writing (October 2023), neither OpenSearch nor ElasticSearch are CNCF projects.
Elasticsearch is governed by the company Elastic NV.
OpenSearch is governed by the company Amazon Web Services.
See here for the CNCF landscape for logging: Cloud Native Landscape. As you can see, both Elastic and OpenSearch are grouped in the “CNCF member products/projects”, which means these are products offered of companies that are members of the CNCF, but they are not CNCF projects.
