Hello! I would like to get some data (or approximate) on the cost of logging using LogStash; how much each every log costs, also in terms of CPU usage, space it takes up and in the backstore (gb?), etc.
My organization does not exactly measure this as we have fixed costs and I would really love to get an idea of the impact of logging useful data.
Thank you in advance!
About 800 megs for an instance but it can go as high as 6 gigs for heavy usage. Cpu depends on the flow and filters too, somewhere between 0.2 and 8 cores (300gb/day with geoip).
It’s a resource hog. Then there is the licensing, elastic is shielding stuff with license checks. There is still a logstash OSS but we are using vector more and more.
4-8x less cpu
20-200mb of ram
No licensing risks
Online editor is fantastic
Boot times in seconds at most
But it is missing some of the logstash functionality
