Can we change default behavior of Line chart when there's missing data points

OpenSearch Dashboard v2.12.0

Hello OpenSearch Dashboard community!

I’m coming from Microsoft Excel and I’m wondering if it’s possible to easily change default behavior of OpenSearch Line chart when there’s missing data points, which seems to be to ignore the missing data points and connect the line with closest neighbors.

In Excel, you can also have that behavior but you can also show missing data points either with a gap in the line, or it’s assumed that the missing data point has a zero value and the line has no gaps but goes to zero each time a data point is missing.

For example, let say I’m going through a log and counting specific events happening daily. Y axis is count and X axis is a Date Histogram using timestamp field and day interval. It may happen that on a specific day, there’s no events, so there’s no data for that specific day. In that special case, I would prefer that my line chart would assume that the missing data point has a zero value instead of connecting closest neighbors who have data.

For reference : Excel Chart Connect Missing Data

I know I could use a bar chart instead, but I’m still wondering if it’s possible or not to do it easily with Line chart.

Thanks!
Konnan
