# OTEL Metrics Source - HTTP

**Versions** (relevant - OpenSearch/Dashboard/Server OS/Browser):  
Any version 1.0 +

**Describe the issue** :  
I was curious when the HTTP metrics source would be available. Looks like the OTEL Project is good to go in this regard. Is there a roadmap item for that availability? I cannot find it.

Otel Metrics source was released with data prepper 2.0 [Release 2.0.0 · opensearch-project/data-prepper · GitHub](https://github.com/opensearch-project/data-prepper/releases/tag/2.0.0)

Are you requesting a separate source to support a different protocol for metrics? I do not believe we have one prioritized on our roadmap. I would encourage you to create a [github issue](https://github.com/opensearch-project/data-prepper/issues/new/choose) with your requirements:

Hey @cmanning09 , Thanks for the reply! I will look into creating a github issue.

I am specifically referring to the protocols supported for the metrics source. The git docs state that: “This source supports `OTLP/grpc`”. I was wondering the same metrics source would be supported for OTLP/HTTP.
