I understand now, I did some testing in my lab but unfortunately I cant replicate that issue.
I also see another issue here but doesnt look like it got resolved

Snapshots Management API (SM)

reference link: Snapshot Management API - OpenSearch documentation I would like to create a SM policies but wasn’t able to create one. I followed the documentation from the link above on creating SM policies but got an error response. I made the request body to minimum where optional fields are removed but still unsuccessful to get a 200 response.

Have you check Opensearch/Opensearch-Dashboard logs?, perhaps there might be a clue
